Zille Ferry Reopens, Boosting Marienthal's Hiking Trails
The Zille, a ferry service in Marienthal, has reopened after the closure of the local glass factory. It now connects the Burgensteig hiking trail to other routes, boosting the region's leisure activities.
The Zille first began operation in Marienthal to cross the Regen river after the glass factory closed. Now, it links the Burgensteig trail between Marienthal and Burg Stockenfels with other paths, creating a larger hiking area.
The Association for Leisure Activities in the Regensburg Area e.V. has contributed 4,000 euros to keep the Zille running in Marienthal. This support ensures the ferry's continued existence and enables further development of the region's leisure offerings.
The Zille Marienthal, operational from May to the end of September, plays a central role in the region's leisure activities. It facilitates access to hiking trails and serves as a tourist attraction, enhancing the quality of life for both residents and visitors. The Association for Leisure Activities regularly supports such projects to expand leisure opportunities and strengthen the region sustainably.
