X-Talk from Karlsruhe Spreads Across Germany, Reaching Multiple Regions of the Country Through Podcasting
The "Ice, Ice, Baby" Podcast Reaches Beyond Borders
The BNN podcast "Ice, Ice, Baby" has made quite an impression, extending its fanbase well beyond the borders of the local region. Evidence of this can be seen in the recent giveaway. During one episode, the podcast offered ten copies of the BNN magazine "Polar Tales from the Karlsruhe Zoo," featuring the beloved polar bear Mika.
Listeners from all corners of Germany tuned in to participate. Entries poured in from Berlin, Dresden, Kiel, Munich, the Sauerland region, and even Hamburg — a city far removed from the podcast's hometown.
One such listener is Wenke, a resident of Hamburg who has no ties to Karlsruhe. She stumbled upon the podcast serendipitously. "I followed the journey of the little polar bear Mika with bated breath," she shares in an email to the editorial team.
Wenke, the Hungry Hamburg Podcast Enthusiast
Wenke has never visited the Karlsruhe Zoo. Her extended family hails from the southwestern region and Switzerland, "so I spent many holidays in the Black Forest as a kid," Wenke recounts. This summer, she plans to take a short vacation in Karlsruhe "to finally check out the Karlsruhe Zoo."
In the latest podcast episode, Zoo Director Matthias Reinschmidt provides an update on the health of the Karlsruhe polar bear Kap. Sadly, the father of Mika hasn't been in the best of health lately. The new episode will be available for streaming from Monday evening.
