The Rheingau Wine Week 2025 kicked off in Wiesbaden, Germany, on August 8, marking the beginning of nine days filled with wine tastings, live music, and local delicacies. The event, which takes place annually, brings together over 100 stalls showcasing more than 1,000 wines and sparkling wines from Rheingau and Wiesbaden producers.

The festivities commenced with a lively opening ceremony in front of Wiesbaden's town hall, attended by local dignitaries and wine royalty. The event continued with a music program featuring around 50 bands on three stages—the town hall, the market church, and the Dern’sche Gelände—every evening until 10 p.m.

A special event, "Riesling Vibes," took place on Monday, August 11, combining wine tasting with a lounge-atmosphere, featuring electronic and house music with DJs from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in front of the Marktkirche.

The atmosphere was vibrant, marked by friendly greetings and small chats, as visitors enjoyed Riesling, Rosé, and Spritzers. The event was described as "the longest wine bar in the world," stretching across Schlossplatz, the area around Marktkirche, and the Dern’sche Gelände.

Food trucks offered a variety of snacks and delicacies to complement the wine tasting experience. Participating wineries spanned the Rheingau and Wiesbaden regions, with Schloss Johannisberg notably present at the Dern’sche Gelände, offering their Rieslings.

The sustainability concept of the wine week was visible and well-received, promoting the use of reusable glasses. The young winemaker project from Geisenheim gave students the opportunity to make their own wine, adding a touch of youthful energy to the event.

Day eight of the Rheingau Wine Week was characterised by uncomplicated summer enjoyment, with live music performed in front of stages keeping people entertained late into the evening. Otto Barth Junior defended his title in the unofficial wine battle of the Rheingau Wine Week, adding another layer of excitement to the event.

Visitors could discover new drops or refill old favorites at the various wine stands. The photographs in the gallery show enjoyment, music, and good mood at the Rheingau Wine Week, captured beautifully by Volker Watschounek.

Note: The Rheingau Wine Festival in Frankfurt runs from September 3 to 12, 2025, featuring around 30 Rheingau vintners and 600 wine varieties at a different venue (Opernplatz and Börsenstraße in Frankfurt). This is distinct from the Wiesbaden Wine Week.

  1. The festival's diverse offerings included not just the traditional wine tastings, but also a lively fusion of fashion, showcasing the latest trends in 'fashion-and-beauty'.
  2. For food enthusiasts, the event offered an array of 'food-and-drink' delicacies, with local eateries and food trucks serving an assortment of culinary delights to complement the wine.
  3. The entertainment extended beyond the wineries, as travelers could take advantage of exploring the enchanting 'home-and-garden' scenes, with Wiesbaden's picturesque town hall and Marktkirche adding to the festival's charm.
