Voyage of Massimo Frosio: Traveling 4000 km from Mallare to Cape North in 14 days on a Vespa scooter

In an extraordinary feat of determination and love for motorcycles, 67-year-old Massimo Frosio from Savona, Italy, recently completed the Nordkapp classic raid, a gruelling 4400 km journeys from Italy to North Cape. Organised by RaidTribe, this challenging expedition took Frosio through nine countries, spanning 14 days. The journey was a surprise, as Frosio's daughter had signed him up without telling him. Frosio undertook this adventure on a 1975 Vespa Primavera, a model often referred to as the 'mother' of the legendary ET3. This Vespa holds sentimental value for Frosio, as it was a gift from his then girlfriend, now wife Antonella, on her 18th birthday. The journeys took Frosio through diverse landscapes, including mountain ranges, fields of hops and rape, big cities, pastures, and past reindeer. He also experienced the magic of the midnight sun, a spectacle that added to the awe-inspiring nature of his journeys. The group responsible for organising the Nordkapp classic raid was the Svezia Group. Frosio teamed up with other Italians during the journey, and together they faced 5 days of heavy rain, fuel stops, and the need for 4.5 litres of oil for the mixture. Despite the challenges, Frosio's old Vespa proved to be reliable, carrying him through the journeys with ease. The people he encountered during the journey showed enthusiasm and curiosity, adding to the unique experience of the Nordkapp classic raid. Frosio finds riding a Vespa to be a unique experience, describing it as 'slow travel where you truly get to savor the landscape around you.' After retiring from Savona's Mondial driving school, Frosio has participated in various tours with large-displacement motorcycles. However, the Nordkapp classic raid on a Vespa was a testament to his passion for motorcycles and his love for adventure. As Frosio reflects on his journeys, he recalls the average temperature of 3 degrees in the north and the various landscapes he traversed. Despite the challenges, he cherishes the memories of this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
