Verify the legitimacy of your visas for Vietnam, as a reminder, due to an instance of overstaying.
Heads Up, Tourists! Check Your Visas Before You Visit Vietnam
Hey there, globetrotters! The Hà Nội Immigration Management Office, under the Hà Nội Police Department, has a friendly reminder for all foreignersintending to visit Viẹ̌t Nam: make sure your visas are valid and up-to-date.
Before you take those exciting selfies at the Hue Imperial City or enjoy a bowl of pho in Hanoi, double-check the type of visa and duration of stay that's stamped in your passport upon arrival. As a foreigner, it's crucial to adhere to the rules and regulations to ensure a hassle-free, safe stay in our beautiful country.
Remember, overstaying your visa can lead to some serious legal complications. So, keep a close eye on your permitted length of stay and don't stay a day longer than what's authorized.
Recently, a British traveler named S.D.T.J learned this the hard way. Upon arrival in Noi Bai International Airport, he assumed his visa information had already been recorded in the system and did not present his electronic visa (e-visa) at immigration.
As a result, he was admitted under Vietnam's unilateral visa exemption policy and granted temporary stay until March 16, 2025. Even though his e-visa was valid from February 3, 2025 to April 24, 2025, he inadvertently overstayed his permitted stay when he failed to double-check the duration of his stay.
According to Vietnamese regulations, foreign nationals who overstay their temporary residence permits by between 30 and under 60 days face specific administrative fines ranging from approximately $192 to $385 USD. In extreme cases, deportation may also be imposed as a supplementary penalty.
So, when you're planning your next adventure in Viẹt Nam, make sure to check out all the necessary travel requirements and keep an eye on your visa validity to avoid any potential penalties. And remember, being a responsible traveler and following local laws will ensure you have an enjoyable and worry-free journey!
