Business travelers accounted for 22% of all overnight stays, indicating a strong presence of corporate travel in Germany. On the other hand, holidays were the main reason for European travel to Germany, with vacationers accounting for 58% of all overnight stays.
The United Kingdom, the USA, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, and Poland were among the top foreign countries with the highest number of overnight stays in Germany. The USA had 6.5 million overnight stays, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands each had 4.8 million, France had 3.8 million, Austria and Poland each had 4.2 million, and Italy had 3.5 million overnight stays.
