Nine Tourist Municipalities Expand in Castilla-La Mancha

Patricia Franco, the Minister of Economy, Business and Employment, has announced the addition of three new municipalities to the Network of Tourist Municipalities in Castilla-La Mancha. This expansion is another step in the tourist promotion strategy of the regional government, aiming to enhance the region's appeal to visitors.

The first municipalities in the province of Guadalajara to join this network are Anguita, Pastrana, and Sigüenza. These historic towns, renowned for their large medieval old town, castle, and cathedral, are now part of the network.

In the province of Toledo, Escalona has become the first municipality to join the ranks. Known for its rich history and cultural significance, it is a welcome addition to the network.

Meanwhile, in the province of Albacete, La Roda is the first municipality to join the network. Famous for its well-preserved 17th-century Plaza Mayor and links to Don Quixote, La Roda is an attractive destination for tourists.

In the province of Cuenca, Beteta and Enguídanos have also joined the network. These municipalities, like their counterparts, offer a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty that makes them appealing to tourists.

The official declaration of these municipalities was published in the Official Gazette of the region, marking their formal inclusion in the network. With this incorporation, Castilla-La Mancha now has a total of nine municipalities with this qualification.

These municipalities are prominent tourist destinations within Castilla-La Mancha due to their historical architecture, literary connections (especially to Don Quixote), castles, and natural attractions like the Ruidera Lakes. Other notable tourist towns in the region include Almagro, Villanueva de los Infantes, and smaller towns such as Belmonte and Oropesa, known for their castles and historical sites.

The Minister also mentioned that they are already studying the declaration of other localities in the province of Albacete that could soon join this official designation, further expanding the network of Tourist Municipalities in Castilla-La Mancha.

In the various provinces of Castilla-La Mancha, these newly inducted municipalities – Anguita, Pastrana, Sigüenza (Guadalajara), Escalona (Toledo), La Roda (Albacete), Beteta, Enguídanos – offer a unique fusion of art, history, and lifestyle, making them an alluring proposition for travelers. Plans are underway to extend this designation to other localities in Albacete, potentially leading to a broader expansion of the Tourist Municipalities network.
