This week's hotel news highlights the postponement of the New Hyatt Regency in Croatia and the Park Hyatt Johannesburg, along with additional updates from the hospitality sector.

The hospitality industry is gearing up for a series of exciting openings in Asia, with several luxury and lifestyle hotels scheduled to debut in the latter half of 2025 and beyond. Major brands like Hyatt and Marriott are leading the charge in this growth spurt.

One of the highly anticipated openings is the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, set to open its doors in August 2025. Details about the hotel, such as the number of rooms and amenities, are yet to be revealed.

In Q3 2025, The Standard Pattaya Na Jomtien and Mumian Shanghai Expo (The Unbound Collection by Hyatt) are expected to open their doors. The Standard Pattaya Na Jomtien will offer 160 guest rooms, while Mumian Shanghai Expo will be a unique addition to Hyatt's portfolio.

Marriott is also joining the fray with the Sheraton Johor Bahru, Malaysia, slated to open in Q2 2025. This 345-room property will be connected to a boutique mall, expected to open by the end of 2025.

Late 2025 will see the opening of Park Hyatt Tokyo, Thompson Shanghai Expo, KYLN Hotel Suzhou (JdV by Hyatt), Andaz One Bangkok, and Andaz Shanghai ITC.

Moving into 2026, Park Hyatt Phu Quoc and Andaz Gold Coast are scheduled to open in Q1 and Q2 respectively. The Barai Hua Hin (The Unbound Collection by Hyatt) and The Standard Residences, Hua Hin & Phuket Bang Tao are expected to open in Q4 2026.

Additional details include the reopening of Hyatt’s Narai Hotel in Bangkok as part of The Unbound Collection in 2028. Hilton is also expanding in Asia with Canopy by Hilton Makati in Manila, although the exact opening date is less specified.

Hilton is also making strides in Vietnam, having announced the opening of the first 4 of 14 Tru by Hilton hotels, bringing Hilton's pipeline in Vietnam to 29.

Meanwhile, Marriott Bonvoy has announced the acquisition of Postcard Cabins, and some of the properties are now bookable on Marriott's website. Amenities for these properties include a 10,000-square-foot outdoor pool and deck, a fitness center, and a cafe. Guests can earn 10 points per $1 spent and 1 Elite Night Credit per night, but booking with Marriott Bonvoy points is currently unavailable.

The Hotel Astoria Vienna, Curio Collection by Hilton, a 125-room hotel, is the first Curio Collection property in Vienna and offers a restaurant and bar, meeting spaces, and more.

The Park Hyatt Johannesburg, initially expected to open on April 1, has been rescheduled to August 1, 2025, and is now a Category 6 hotel. It will feature 31 guest rooms and suites, all with double sinks, an open-plan shower, Egyptian bedding, and a private lounge.

Hotel Dali Val d'Europe, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, is scheduled to open this summer near Disneyland Paris. It will have 94 guest rooms, an outdoor pool, a fitness center, a steakhouse, and a bar.

Lastly, Hyatt Regency Zadar has opened in Croatia, offering 133 guest rooms and suites, a 12,000+-square-foot spa, indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam room, hammam, hot tubs, and treatment rooms. The hotel's typical cash price is from $254 per night, and its typical points cost is between 12,000 and 18,000 World of Hyatt points per night.

These openings represent significant growth in Asia’s luxury and lifestyle hospitality market across Malaysia, Thailand, China, Japan, Vietnam, and beyond.
