Buckle Up for Higher Taiwan Pass Prices: Up to a 31.5% Hike Coming Soon!

Taiwanese Pass Prices to Rise as of June 23rd

Not to burst your travel bubbles, but prepare yourself for a bit of a wallet-pinch when it comes to the Taiwan Pass. That's right, these popular travel packages, including the EasyGo, Attractions, and Classic versions, are about to get a price hike of up to 31.5%! But, fear not, high-speed rail deals will stay the same.

Taiwan Railway Corp., the mastermind behind these ticket bundles, has announced a long-awaited fare increase taking effect on June 23, 2023. With this update comes a rise in the prices for the Taiwan Pass plans that cover Taiwan Railway services, ranging from 18.5% to 31.5%. No need to pack your piggy bank just yet, as the detailed new prices after June 23 are still keeping their cards close to their chest!

Want a sneak peek at the updated cost for the Taiwan Pass' EasyGo Version, which includes a three-day TR-Pass? Say hello to a NT$2,500 price tag, a hefty NT$600, or 31.5%, increase. For our little adventurers under 12, the EasyGo option is seeing a NT$1,500 price bump.

Beyond the TR-Pass, the EasyGo option offers a pick of a car rental or Uber voucher, an Airport MRT round-trip ticket, a 48-hour pass for the greater Taipei area's MRT and light rail services, buses to Sun Moon Lake, Alishan Forest Railway tickets, or round-trip bus services to popular destinations.

The Attractions Version is also adding NT$600 to its price tag (25% increase), remaining the same for all ages. This Taiwan Pass version includes a three-day TR-Pass, one of four City Transport options, and tickets to one of seven popular destinations, including Kenting, or a pass to one of 14 attractions like the National Palace Museum and Taipei Zoo.

Dust off those pocketbooks again for the Classic Version, which will set adults back NT$3,200 (a NT$500, or 18.5%, increase), and NT$1,900 for children under 12 (up 5.6%). This Taiwan Pass plan includes a Taiwan Railway five-day pass, one of four Taiwan Metro options, and one of six "Popular Attraction" options.

Rest easy, your Taiwan Passes purchased before June 23 will still be valid for a full year from the date of purchase. And don't forget, all versions offer flexible travel within a seven-day period.

But, if you're holding a foreign passport, you can rest easy knowing that the High-Speed Rail Attractions Version and High-Speed Rail Classic Version prices will remain unchanged. These Taiwan Pass plans come equipped with a three-day pass for services operated by Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp, metro options, scenic area transportation, and selected attraction options.

The Taiwan Pass program, launching on Jan. 1 last year, is sold through contracted travel sites such as Klook and Lion Travel. For the latest news and updates, head over to their official website: https://twpass.tw/.

Preparing for a lifestyle adjustment, travelers might want to factor in a possible 31.5% increase in the cost of the EasyGo version of the Taiwan Pass, as announced by Taiwan Railway Corp. Furthermore, the Attractions Version of the Taiwan Pass will see a 25% price hike, affecting all ages.
