Spiritual Adventure Unveiled in Kazakhstan's Capital, Offering Mystical Encounters

Reborn from the Past: The Mesmerizing 'Shaman's Son' Exhibition in Astana

Astana transformed into a hub of mystical energy, hosting the 'Shaman's Son' exhibition at Kulanshi Art Space on April 3. The immersive event, where ancient spiritual vibes intertwine with modern interpretations of mysticism, brought together the works of artists Moses Zibor from Nigeria and Saulet Zhanibek, a renowned Kazakh artist.

The title 'Shaman's Son' emanates the mystical aura surrounding these creators and their artworks. Leila Makhat, the exhibition's curator, shares this spirit. She revealed, "Saulet and I have a long-standing partnership, and while his art is widely acclaimed, he's stepping into a new realm-his work is growing deeper, more potent, and undeniably enigmatic."

As for Moses Zibor, his roots as a hereditary shaman infuse his presence with a distinctive energy that's undeniably contagious. His unique ability to reshape lives with a mere whisper or gesture shines in his new collection of abstract paintings. According to Makhat, "Peek closely, and you'll spot familiar shapes lurking in the abstraction."

The artists contribute to a conversation that transcends the traditional boundaries of art, fostering innovative forms of expression shared by them and young artists intrigued by the mystical realm. Makhat likens it to "a form of magical enchantment-not dark, but illuminated enchantment. Both artists possess a gift that adds vibrancy and beauty to the world. This project serves as a great catalyst for younger artists exploring mystical and spiritual themes within today's context."

Zibor offers his insight on the spiritual themes of the 'Shaman's Son' exhibition, "The show is infused with spiritual essence. Whether through religion or the universe, we aren't ordinary personalities. Within us, there's something. That's why we thought up 'Sons of Shaman'-remember, we're all sons of shamans. Our ancestors practiced spiritual rituals, and some were pastoral healers. I see myself as one of them, a reflection of that legacy."

Zibor accentuates the universal link between cultures, particularly between Kazakh and African traditions, revealing shared ancestral roots that surpass borders. Additionally, he attributes his creative process to dreams and the majestic mountains of Almaty.

Zibor maintains that art holds transformative and curative power, as evidenced by accounts of individuals who experienced positive life changes after acquiring his paintings. He believes art serves not just as visual inspiration but also as a source of vitality and rejuvenation.

The 'Shaman's Son' exhibition continues through May 9, inviting you to immerse yourself in the mystical fusion of ancient spirituality and contemporary artistry, allowing you to connect with the deeper aspects of life in a fresh and immersive manner.
