Perth Airport to Implement Amadeus Biometric Passenger Technology

In 2015, a significant partnership was formed between Amadeus and Perth Airport, marking the beginning of a collaborative journey. This partnership saw the installation of Amadeus' cloud-based passenger processing systems at Perth Airport, a move that has since been integral to the airport's operations.

This innovative technology has been in operation at Perth Airport for over six years, streamlining the passenger processing systems and paving the way for future advancements. As part of this partnership, Amadeus initially installed its cloud-based systems, setting the stage for the transformative changes that followed.

Now, Perth Airport is taking its partnership with Amadeus to the next level with the installation of a new biometric passenger system. This system, which is being delivered by Amadeus, is set to revolutionize the airport's operations, offering Australia's first fully automated departure process.

The upgrades aim to deliver a seamless experience for passengers, with nearly 100 new check-in kiosks and almost 40 traditional check-in counters being replaced with bag drop units from Amadeus. These units will be equipped with Amadeus' biometrics capabilities, allowing passengers with selected airlines to check-in and opt for biometrics at self-service kiosks.

Slew of touchpoints will be installed throughout the airport, all equipped with Amadeus' biometrics capabilities. This expansion of self-service capacity is a testament to the airport's commitment to enhancing the passenger experience while supporting the growth of the airport.

The installation of the new biometric passenger systems at Perth Airport was initiated by the Australian Border Force, reflecting a shared vision for a more efficient and modern border control process. The partnership between Amadeus and Perth Airport has a long history, and this latest development underscores their commitment to leveraging technology to improve the travel experience for passengers.

The passenger experience is paramount, and the new automated technologies support this goal. By streamlining processes and offering a more seamless experience, Perth Airport and Amadeus are setting a new standard for air travel in Australia.
