Prada Frames Symposium Takes Centre Stage at Milan Design Week 2025

The annual Prada Frames symposium, a thought-provoking idea platform organised by Prada and Formafantasma, is back for its 2025 edition, taking centre stage at Milan Design Week. This year's theme, titled "In Transit," explores the concept of mobility, delving into the impact of global distribution networks, digital revolutions, and logistics on our daily lives, with a particular focus on the contrasts between the movement of goods and human migration.

The symposium, which is one of the cultural highlights of the week, links fashion, design, and societal reflection, making it a must-attend event for design enthusiasts and thought leaders alike.

The symposium takes place at Milan Centrale station and aboard a Gio Ponti-designed train, the same train that inspired the design icon Treno Arlecchino. This choice of venue not only highlights the deep design heritage but also emphasises the continuity in Italian and global design dialogues.

The event features voices from fields like design, fashion, and research. Prada and the design-research duo Formafantasma curate the intellectual framework, with notable individuals like Martin Onufrowicz, who wrote about the symposium and its themes, contributing to the discourse. Other attendees and speakers often include leading designers, architects, and cultural thinkers, such as supermodel Bella Hadid, who made a notable entrance at the event.

The May 2025 issue of the website, which offers a daily digest of inspiration, escapism, and design stories, will be available to subscribers of Apple News + and on the website app on Apple iOS. The issue, themed around the symposium, will also be available in print on newsstands from 3 April 2025.

Meanwhile, in Venice, three studios are preparing for the opening of the Architecture Biennale, while 14 design companies celebrate their founding anniversaries, together representing a total of 905 years of inspiration and resilience. Elsewhere, Faye Toogood collaborates with Japanese porcelain manufacturer Noritake, and Shalini Misra's Shakti Design Residency initiative continues to be a multinational, multidisciplinary melting pot of ideas.

The cover of the May 2025 issue of the website features Prada Frames as a representation of travel and connection, encapsulating the spirit of the symposium and the Milan Design Week 2025.
