Morocco Launches e-Visa System on July 10, Simplifying Entry for Tourists and Business Travelers
Morocco is set to launch an electronic visa (e-Visa) system on July 10, 2022, simplifying entry for tourists and business travelers from 49 countries. The announcement was made on June 23, 2022.
Citizens of the EU can enter Morocco visa-free for stays up to 90 days. However, from July 10, all visitors from the 49 eligible countries will need to apply for an e-Visa, which will be valid for up to 30 days and delivered within 24 to 72 hours. The e-Visa can be extended on-site up to 6 months with multiple entries.
Applicants must provide a return ticket, hotel reservation, or business invitation letter, prove they have sufficient funds (at least 70€ per day), and carry travel insurance. The e-Visa costs 700 dirhams (approximately 68€) for standard processing and 1000 dirhams (around 97€) for express processing. African nationals enjoy a preferential rate of 70 dirhams (about 7€) for standard and 100 dirhams (around 10€) for express processing.
The new e-Visa system aims to streamline entry into Morocco for tourists and business travelers. It offers flexibility with extendable validity and preferential rates for African nationals. Applicants should ensure they meet the required documents and funds criteria before applying.
