Maritim Festival's advancement remains ongoing
2025 International Maritime Festival: A Celebration of Maritime Music and Culture in Vegesack
The 25th edition of the International Maritime Festival (Festival Maritim) is set to take place in Vegesack, Germany, with an exciting lineup and a host of new attractions. This year's festival promises to be even more diverse, featuring musicians from over 70 countries and an array of cultural events.
The festival will continue its tradition of being free to the public, taking place along the scenic Maritime Mile. Over 30 bands and vocal groups will perform across 10 stages, offering genres such as Irish Folk, Scottish Rock, Celtic Folk, Bluegrass, Shanties, Pirate Folk, Folk Metal, and a cappella performances.
New for 2025, the festival will feature a special jubilee marking its 25th anniversary, with sophisticated musical variety and cultural dedication to maritime musical traditions. The event will also see expanded music and cultural programming from a variety of international artists, with performers hailing from countries such as England, Belgium, France, Austria, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, and Poland.
Visitors can expect an enchanting atmosphere around the “Museumshaven” harbor area, with exhibitions by noted fine artists, water and light installations, traditional ships, and robust cutter pulling competitions. The festival's inner city shopping area will be transformed into a vibrant open-air stage on festival Saturday, encouraging active public participation in music and maritime culture.
The festival will conclude with a big fireworks display and a traditional shanty slam concert, emphasizing community and maritime heritage. Other new additions include the "WeserART" event, which will take place for the first time in the boathouse in Vegesacker Stadtgarten, featuring maritime arts and crafts.
The Bremer Ratskeller, one of the oldest and most well-known wine merchants in the city, will join the Maritime Mile as a new stop for wine lovers. A unique cocktail bar named "Blauwal" will be located near the whale's tail near the ferry landing.
Visitors can donate their two-euro deposit cup at special red collection bins, and the winning notification from the Scavenger Hunt app is required to redeem the free drink at the beer wagon in the boathouse in Vegesacker Stadtgarten. The first 100 winners of the previous Bremer Scavenger Hunt action will receive a free drink at the beer wagon.
In addition, a benefit concert in the Vegesacker Stadtkirche on July 31st at 5 pm will contribute to the festival's financial future. The Hafenwald (Volker-Ernsting-Platz) will host the Bremer Ratskeller, making it a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts during the festival.
Proceeds from the IFM merchandise go directly to the festival, with the new merchandise featuring a whale design on t-shirts, hoodies, and anniversary shirts.
