Manar Abu Dhabi Returns with 'The Light Compass', Expands to Al Ain

Manar Abu Dhabi, the captivating art exhibition led by lights, is set to return this year with an inspiring theme and exciting expansions. 'The Light Compass' will explore light's role as both guide and medium in art and culture, shining a beacon on creativity and innovation. For the first time, the exhibition will extend its reach to Al Ain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, opening its doors from November 1, 2025. This year's edition promises over 19 newly commissioned works, joining site-specific light sculptures and immersive installations that will transform the cityscape. The international lineup of artists is impressive, featuring teamLab from Japan, Carsten Höller, Shezad Dawood, and Shilpa Gupta, among others from France and Mexico. Khai Hori serves as the Artistic Director, leading a team of curators including Alia Zaal Lootah, Munira Al Sayegh, and Mariam Alshehhi to bring this visual feast to life. Manar Abu Dhabi will illuminate Abu Dhabi's diverse landscapes from November 15, 2025 to January 4, 2026. Visitors can expect to find installations in mangroves, sandbanks, gardens, and urban edges. A vibrant public programme of talks, workshops, and performances will accompany the exhibition, offering interactive experiences for all ages. The exhibition's expansion to Al Ain and its exploration of light's dual role in art and culture promise a compelling edition of Manar Abu Dhabi. With its impressive lineup of international artists and varied programme, it's set to be a must-see event this winter.
