Bettina Bunge to Leave Role as Tourism Chief of Schleswig-Holstein for Luxembourg Convention Bureau

After eight years at the helm of Schleswig-Holstein's Tourism Agency, Bettina Bunge is set to depart at the end of October. She will assume the role of sole manager at the National Luxembourg Convention Bureau in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg from November 1st.

Bunge's primary responsibility at her new post will be to oversee global marketing for Luxembourg as a meeting and conference destination. In her announcement, she expressed her excitement for this new challenge. During her tenure with Schleswig-Holstein, she had spearheaded tourism marketing and management efforts, steering it towards a future-oriented direction.

Bunge's impact on Schleswig-Holstein's tourism sector extends beyond regional boundaries. Her leadership has been instrumental in the development of strategic positioning, domestic and international marketing, partnerships, and innovative projects, all of which have contributed to Schleswig-Holstein's growing appeal as a travel destination.

Economy State Secretary Julia Carstens expressed regret at Bunge's departure but noted that her position would be filled soon. Carstens acknowledged Bunge's significant contributions, stating that her work with the Tourism Agency had been key in shaping Schleswig-Holstein's tourism industry.

In 2024, Schleswig-Holstein achieved a record-breaking number of guest arrivals and overnight stays, ranking fifth among the German states. Bunge's forthcoming move reflects her professional acumen and her desire to apply her expertise in different contexts.

Throughout her career, Bettina Bunge has held various leadership positions in the tourism industry, including roles at Hamburg Tourismus, Dresden Marketing, and the German National Tourist Board, solidifying her influence in the sector.
