Locanda Verde Brings Elegant Italian Heritage to Hudson Yards
Locanda Verde, the beloved Tribeca osteria, has opened its second location in Manhattan's thriving Hudson Yards district. The new restaurant, designed by Roman and Williams, brings a news touch of elegant Italian heritage to the city's prominent skyscrapers.
The new Locanda Verde spans two waterfront levels, featuring a banquette-style dining room, a bar, and a cafe. The central dining room showcases golden ambers, plush oranges, velvet striped upholstery, and paintings by Robert De Niro Sr. The design draws inspiration from Tokyo office tower restaurants and Milanese modernism, with indigenous materials like locally quarried stone and hand-forged metals reflecting its Italy-focused ethos. Muralist Dean Barger has created wall tableaus depicting horses and Cubist flourishes, adding a unique touch to the space. The menu offers a variety of dishes, including crudi, pasta, and shared plates, accompanied by a wine cellar boasting over 700 wines.
The original Locanda Verde-Osteria also has a second branch in Munich, styled with similar elegance and detailed Italian heritage.
Locanda Verde Hudson Yards, with its sophisticated design and diverse menu, is set to become a popular destination in the bustling Hudson Yards district. The restaurant's incorporation of indigenous materials and local art reflects its commitment to honoring both Italian heritage and its new Manhattan home.
