Kamchatka's Hepatitis Hotline Handles 400+ Calls, Boosting Awareness and Care
In Kamchatka, a dedicated hotline is now operational to assist citizens with queries about hepatitis C and B. Since its launch, it has handled over 400 calls, demonstrating the region's commitment to combating these diseases.
The hotline serves a dual purpose: it provides immediate consultation to residents and also gathers valuable data. The information collected is aggregated and sent to the Ministry of Health for further analysis and planning.
Residents can now request tests through a newly established system, with patients being linked to their local healthcare facilities for ongoing care. The tests are provided free of charge at these facilities. This initiative is part of Governor Vladimir Solodov's instructions, which have also led to the creation of 'green corridors' and extended patient hours for testing. The Ministry of Health has successfully reached out to over 90% of residents at high risk for viral hepatitis B and C.
The Kamchatka region's Ministry of Health is actively working to combat hepatitis C and B. With the hotline, free testing, and extended hours, they aim to increase awareness, prevent the spread, and provide care to those affected. The data collected will help inform future health policies in the region.
