IRCC Breaks Records in Healthcare Express Entry Draw

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has held a significant Express Entry draw on 21 July 2024, with a record-breaking Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off score. The draw, focusing on healthcare and social services, saw 500 candidates invited to apply for permanent residence.

This draw marks the third Express Entry event this week, following an education category-based selection on 1 May and a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on 28 April. Notably, it is the first healthcare draw since February 2025, when several social services occupations were added to the category.

Candidates needed a minimum CRS score of 510 to be considered, setting a new high for a healthcare draw. The draw took place with a specific time constraint; candidates had to have created an Express Entry profile before 4:31 a.m., Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) on that date. Processing times through Express Entry are typically quicker than other pathways, with IRCC aiming to process applications within six months of receiving an invitation to apply (ITA).

Since the beginning of 2025, IRCC has issued 33,429 ITAs through the Express Entry system. This draw alone accounted for 500 ITAs, with candidates in the healthcare and social services category receiving invitations. Express Entry draws in 2025 have primarily focused on PNP candidates, with a smaller portion dedicated to CEC program candidates and those in IRCC's priority categories for the year.

The 21 July 2024 draw demonstrates IRCC's commitment to welcoming skilled professionals in the healthcare and social services sectors. With a record-breaking CRS score and a significant number of ITAs issued, the draw highlights the government's ongoing efforts to address labour market needs and support the Canadian economy. Candidates with Express Entry profiles should continue to monitor draws and update their profiles to remain competitive.
