India, Singapore Deepen Tech Partnership, Eyeing Mutual Growth

Singapore's technological prowess and India's economic rise have sparked a deepening partnership, as evident in the Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) recent virtual visit to Singapore. The annual CII Core Group visit in September 2021 saw high-level discussions on mutual growth, digital transformation, and collaboration in key sectors.

The virtual visit, held in September 2021, brought together representatives of the CII and Singaporean government officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong. They discussed topics such as economic recovery, bilateral trade relations, digital transformation, and sustainable development. This marked the continuation of a relationship that began with Singapore's former Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong's 'India Fever' initiative in 1993.

Looking ahead, both nations have identified several areas for collaboration in the next year. These include digitization, start-ups and tech collaborations, logistics and supply chains, skills and education, smart manufacturing, fintech, and university-industry connect for R&D. India's large market and Singapore's technological expertise make them ideal partners for mutual growth and development. India's rise as a strategic powerhouse will be supplemented by Singapore's support and partnership, while Singapore sees opportunities for establishing a manufacturing base and enhancing food security in India.

The CII's commitment to strengthening ties with Singapore was reaffirmed during the virtual visit. With a focus on key sectors and mutual growth, India and Singapore continue to build on their long-standing relationship, promising a bright future for bilateral cooperation.
