Ilon Specht's Legacy Celebrated in Intimate Screening of Acclaimed Doc

An intimate gathering of around 100 attendees recently enjoyed a special screening of 'The Final Copy of Ilon Specht', a 17-minute documentary that has garnered international acclaim, including a Grand Prix at Cannes Lions. The event, hosted by United Women Singapore, McCann Worldgroup, and L'Oréal Paris, paid tribute to the late advertising legend Ilon Specht and her enduring legacy.

The documentary, directed by a currently unidentified filmmaker, offers a poignant look into the life and work of Ilon Specht. It features interviews with the late copywriter herself, conducted on her deathbed, and her stepdaughter Alison Case. Specht's personal and professional legacy was highlighted by Shilpa Sinha, Chief Strategy Officer at McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific, who moderated a post-show panel.

Specht's most notable contribution, the iconic L'Oréal Paris campaign slogan 'Because I'm Worth It', was born out of her insistence on a woman's perspective. Juliana Goméz, L'Oréal Paris SAPMENA Brand General Manager, spoke about the enduring power of Specht's legacy and authentic brand connections. Georgette Tan, United Women Singapore Board Member, discussed opportunities for creating meaningful change for women in Singapore, echoing Specht's trailblazing spirit.

The documentary, available for viewing in Singapore on the TED YouTube channel, serves as a testament to Ilon Specht's impact on the advertising industry and women's empowerment. The intimate screening and subsequent panel discussion underscored the continued relevance of her legacy and the importance of her story in inspiring future generations.
