Hamm's New Showcase: Experiencing Testimonies

The Gustav-Lübcke-Museum in Hamm, Germany, is set to host the travelling exhibition "Become a Second Witness" from August 10, 2025, to January 11, 2026. This poignant exhibition, presented by the Zweitzeugen e.V. association, focuses on the life stories of four Holocaust survivors: Chava Wolf, Henny Brenner, Dr. Leon Weintraub, and Wolfgang Lauinger.

The opening ceremony will take place on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 3 pm, with a welcome speech by Mayor Marc Herter and a panel discussion on the topic "Never again is now!". The motto of the exhibition, "get to know, remember, pass on," stands for an open society without antisemitism and discrimination.

Interactive media stations and hands-on activities are part of the exhibition, creating a connection to the present and encouraging reflection. Free activities such as "Your Turn! Your Sign Against Antisemitism" will be offered on September 2, November 12, and December 2, 2025.

City tours and readings are also part of the programme. Visitors can take guided tours of stumbling blocks and learn about Jewish life in Hamm. On October 2, 2025, Jenny Heimann's "Mi Corazon - My Dear Luise..." will be read.

Workshops for school classes can be booked from the 7th grade onwards, with prices starting at 55 euros. The goal of Zweitzeugen e.V. is to make history tangible and learn from it.

While details about the accompanying programme and workshops schedule are not currently available, we recommend checking the official Gustav-Lübcke-Museum website or contacting the museum directly for more information. To date, 37 life stories have been collected and shared by Zweitzeugen e.V. through exhibitions, podcasts, and workshops.

Meanwhile, Hamm is bustling with other events. A DJ festival called "Welcome to my Garden" is attracting thousands to Kurpark, and a demonstration is taking place in front of Hamm Zoo. A head physician has also lost a lawsuit against the abortion ban.
