Experienced two grand, opulent villas in Sri Lanka for an unforgettable immersion tour
Experience the Magic of Sri Lanka: A Journey through Yala National Park and Shangri-La Resorts
Sri Lanka, a land known for its mythology, culture, and natural beauty, is a popular holiday destination. On a recent trip, we had the opportunity to explore the country's wonders, starting at the luxurious Shangri-La Colombo.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the grandeur of Shangri-La Colombo, featuring high ceilings, chandeliers, a live pianist, and warm hospitality. Our Deluxe Ocean View King room offered a view of the Indian Ocean and Port City from the 27th floor, with a rustic wooden vibe, a large comfortable bed, wooden furniture and flooring, and an ocean-facing balcony.
Post lunch, we indulged in recreational activities like table tennis, pool, air hockey, trapeze swing, archery, and golf. The day ended with a five-course dinner under the stars at Ulpatha restaurant.
The next morning, we embarked on a journey to Yala National Park, home to the second largest leopard population in the world. Although we missed a leopard sighting, we witnessed a moving moment between an elephant and her child. Watching various wildlife species like deer, monkeys, leopards, elephants, crocodiles, and thousands of bird species coexist in one ecosystem was a humbling experience.
After returning from Yala, we continued our exploration of Colombo, an intersection of different cultures and identities, with elements reminiscent of New York, London, and Sri Lanka's rich culture and heritage. The city offers attractions like the Old Parliament Building, One Galle Face, and Adventure Zone, and is adjacent to the One Galle Face shopping center, making it convenient for shopping and exploring the city.
The Port City, developed by China, is a part of Colombo and offers a promenade for strolling and enjoying sunsets. The Lotus Tower, a popular tourist attraction, offers a breathtaking view from its observation deck.
Our final stop was Shangri-La Hambantota, a resort known for its luxurious service and extensive facilities. Although specific activities were not detailed, the resort typically offers beach access, spa and wellness programs, fine dining, and opportunities to explore nearby natural reserves and cultural sites in southern Sri Lanka.
Back at Shangri-La Colombo, we enjoyed a three-course set menu at the Capital Bar & Grill, 'Rooted in Nature' and eco-conscious, with live jazz music. The trip concluded with a lavish buffet spread at the Central restaurant, offering Sri Lankan, Indian, and Continental delights, including local, seasonal fresh fruit and juices.
Our stay at Shangri-La Colombo and Shangri-La Hambantota was an unforgettable experience, filled with adventure, relaxation, and cultural immersion. Packages at Shangri-La Hambantota start at INR 10,400. For more information, visit the hotel's official website.
