Experience the Near-All-Inclusive Charm: Review of Hotel Stockinggut, Leogang in the Austrian Alps
Grabbing a sun-warmed mug of fresh tap water, I find myself in a slice of heaven nestled within the Austrian Alps. If serenity had a view, it would undoubtedly be the one I'm drinking in: rolling verdant hills, majestic jagged peaks, and the aroma of wildflowers dancing on the breeze.
Spending hours just gazing out over this breathtaking panorama like a Netflix marathon sees the world fade away, replaced by the green hues of those pine-clad hills and the azure skies overhead.
Whether it's the one-of-a-kind balcony or the other, with views that can only be described as impossibly picturesque, my love affair with Stockinggut begins quickly. I don't even mind unpacking for once – this cozy wooden retreat is already starting to feel like a second home.
With a soul-refreshing escape in mind, I can think of no better place to spend my days soaking up the summer vibes and exploring the surrounding villages and mountains than right here.
What's so special about Stockinggut in Leogang?
In winter, it's a chance to ski right from the hotel, making it a top pick for ski enthusiasts.
But the summer months offer a different kind of magic, where vibrant foliage colors the valleys and flowers decorate the villages. Gondolas lift silently up the mountains, weaving amidst trails that call adventurous souls. Stockinggut is perfectly located in Leogang, offering a room with a view of the town's charming outskirts.
From hermitage hikes and organic dining to museums and art trails, there's no shortage of things to do in the Saalfelden Leogang area. But the true star of the show is the nearby 'Mountain of Senses': Mount Asitz.
Mixing Austria's cultural heritage with nature's finest, this remarkable summit is a must-visit attraction. Follow the orchestral music wafting from hidden forest concerts, enjoy the calming serenity of wooden huts that play host to silent performances, or indulge in a short meditation overlooking the lake.
The Rooms
Cozy studios, larger apartments, or even entire chalets - Stockinggut has room options suitable for everything from couples and friends to families and large groups. My cozy one-bedroom apartment, complete with a full kitchen, balconies on either side, and spacious bathroom, felt like a mountain sanctuary. And the comfy bed? It made me feel like I was sleeping on a cloud.
The Food
Stockinggut offers half-board, and I soon wished I'd taken the plunge! While an à la carte menu is available for those who want more choice, the five-course evening meals I got were simply outstanding.
You can choose between dining on the terrace, surrounded by the calming sounds of nature, or having a more stylish dining experience in the modern, sleek restaurant. No matter where you choose to sit, you'll feel as though you're dining in a mountain fairytale.
The Spa and Facilities
Cozy and compact, the spa is an ideal place to unwind after a long day of hiking. Take some time to relax in a super comfortable lounge chair, indoors or outdoors, before stepping into the sauna or rinsing off under the rain-shower programs.
While a pool or jacuzzi would have made for a perfect addition, my room didn't come with one, I can't complain about my stay at Stockinggut.
The Service
Thoughtful, friendly, laid-back, yet professional - these are just a few words that come to mind when describing the service at Stockinggut. From an easy check-in to a friendly rapport with the restaurant staff, who remembered my drinks preferences, my time here was seamless and enjoyable.
As a bonus, guests staying at Stockinggut are given the Saalfelden Leogang card, allowing for free regional transport, discounts on local attractions, and more. My stay at the Stockinggut by AvenidA left me recharged and ready to take on the world – just don't tell anyone that the Asitz Mountain had a part in it.
