Etihad Rail Expands Passenger Network with New Stations and Partnerships
Etihad Rail has revealed plans to expand its passenger network in the UAE. Two new stations are expected, one behind the Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro station in Dubai and another near Mussafah Industrial Area in Abu Dhabi. The company has also partnered with Keolis International for train operations and Yango Group for passenger access improvements.
Etihad Rail has chosen Keolis International, experienced in operating the Dubai Metro, to run its passenger trains. The French company brings valuable expertise to the project. Meanwhile, Yango Group has signed an agreement to enhance passenger access to stations when the service begins in 2026. The collaboration aims to streamline vehicle entry and exit procedures, reducing congestion.
The passenger service remains on schedule for 2026, as confirmed at the Global Rail conference. So far, four stations have been announced, with more planned to address first and last-mile travel concerns. This follows a similar agreement Etihad Rail signed with Uber in 2023. Both companies are exploring digital platform integration, allowing passengers to buy rail tickets through the Yango app or reserve Yango rides through Etihad Rail's channels.
Etihad Rail's expansion includes new stations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, partnerships with Keolis International and Yango Group, and a 2026 launch date. The company continues to work on improving passenger access and digital integration, ensuring a seamless travel experience.
