Entertainment stage broadens musical selections for everyone's enjoyment
Stage Entertainment Announces Inclusive Offerings and Relaxed Performance of Disney's THE LION KING
Stage Entertainment, the leading musical company in Germany, is set to expand its inclusion offerings with a Relaxed Performance of Disney's THE LION KING. This groundbreaking event will take place on September 19, 2025, marking a significant step towards making theatre more accessible for people with neurodivergent conditions, anxiety disorders, sensory impairments, or Tourette's syndrome.
With over 70 million guests entertained annually in Germany, Stage Entertainment has been a staple in the German entertainment industry for 25 years. The company has produced 119 premieres, including nine world premieres and seven European premieres, showcasing their commitment to innovation and creativity.
The Relaxed Performance is designed with a focus on reducing light and sound effects, allowing audience members to move freely, make noise, or leave and re-enter the hall as needed. This approach aims to create a comfortable and inclusive environment for all attendees.
In addition to the Relaxed Performance, Stage Entertainment is also offering an audio description service via the Earcatch app. This service is aimed at approximately 1.2 million blind and visually impaired people in Germany, providing them with an immersive and engaging theatre experience. The audio description for 'MJ - Das Michael Jackson Musical' has been carefully crafted, although the name of the person responsible is currently unavailable.
Elbe-Werkstätten is providing advisory support for the Relaxed Performance, ensuring that every detail is considered to make the experience as enjoyable and accessible as possible for all attendees.
Due to high demand, a further Relaxed Performance of Disney's THE LION KING is already planned for 2026. This commitment to inclusion reflects Stage Entertainment's core values of diversity, equal opportunities, tolerance, and sustainability, as encapsulated in their guiding principle, 'Touching Hearts, Creating Memories.'
ADVANCE Publications has been the owner of the Stage Entertainment Group since 2018, and the company continues to grow, employing around 2,300 people internationally across eight countries and 17 theaters. Over 1,400 employees work in eight theaters in Germany, contributing to the success of Stage Entertainment in Germany.
Benito Bause, a prominent figure at Stage Entertainment, narrates the visual elements of the production during musical and dialogue-free moments, adding another layer of immersion to the theatre experience.
Stage Entertainment's portfolio includes around 80 productions internationally, and the company also produces and markets its own tours. With their continued commitment to innovation, accessibility, and quality, Stage Entertainment is set to continue entertaining and inspiring millions of guests for years to come.
