Dortmund Celebrates European Mobility Week with Fun, Educational Events

Dortmund celebrated the European Mobility Week with a variety of activities promoting climate-friendly mobility and road safety awareness. The city's Green Culture initiative played a significant role, engaging both children and adults in fun and educational events.

The week kicked off with the Green Culture Dortmund initiative providing musical accompaniment on the streetcar and unveiling a new bicycle map. Children enjoyed a 'Snail Race' station, honing their balance and safe riding skills.

The initiative also organised a coloring competition, with 243 children from 17 kindergartens participating. Each child received a bicycle helmet as recognition. Meanwhile, adults were treated to a 'Bike Thank-You Festival', filled with surprises for cyclists and pedestrians.

Dortmund's schools also got involved. At Hauptschule Husen, 75 fifth and sixth graders took part in a school action focused on traffic safety. Meanwhile, 120 third and fourth graders from three Nordmarkt elementary schools learned and practiced traffic behavior at the 'Experience Tour Traffic Safety and Mobility'. Additionally, a guided bike tour educated participants about alternative housing forms.

The European Mobility Week in Dortmund, held from September 16 to 22, 2025, successfully promoted sustainable mobility and road safety. Through engaging activities like streetcar concerts, snail races, and educational tours, the city encouraged its residents to embrace climate-friendly transportation options.
