Discovery Education Unveils Updated Resources for Manufacturing Day 2025
Manufacturing Day, an annual event held on the first Friday of October, aims to spark interest in manufacturing careers among the next generation. This year, Discovery Education has unveiled updated resources and virtual field trips to inspire students and highlight the industry's growth, which is projected to create 4 million new jobs in the next decade.
Discovery Education has refreshed its career profile videos and resources, featuring professionals from various sectors, including advanced manufacturing. The platform also offers new resources for educators to engage students in career exploration, especially around Manufacturing Day 2025 and beyond.
These new resources are a result of collaborations with the STEM Careers Coalition, an alliance of industries and non-profit organizations promoting equitable access to STEM resources and career connections since 2019. Additional partnerships involve school districts, states, and trusted organizations to create and support real-world learning experiences.
Two upcoming virtual field trips are set to premiere this October. 'Forging Innovation: A Mission Possible', launching on October 9, explores the world of steel and its applications in architecture and structural engineering. Meanwhile, 'Careers at Sea and Shore: A Virtual Field Trip to Maritime Manufacturing Centers', debuting on October 29, showcases marine innovation and careers in submarine manufacturing. Additionally, students can learn about staple crop manufacturing processes through a resource created in partnership with Cooperative Minds.
Discovery Education Experience provides all these resources and more for educators to inspire students about manufacturing careers. Furthermore, the platform's Career Connect allows educators to arrange virtual classroom visits with industry professionals for personalized interactions, fostering a deeper understanding of the manufacturing sector's diverse and exciting opportunities.
