Crowds Gather for the Second Edition of the Collective Arts Festival
The Collective Arts Festival Returns to Sheridan, Wyoming in 2025
Mark your calendars, art enthusiasts! The Collective Arts Festival is set to return to Sheridan, Wyoming on Saturday, August 9, 2025. This exciting event, which celebrates arts across music, crafts, theatre, and literature, will take place from 12:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Whitney Commons.
The Collective Arts Festival is the brainchild of the Bighorn Arts Collective, a new nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the arts and growing the creative economy in Sheridan County and the surrounding region. The festival aims to bring together local artists, artisans, and the community to celebrate and foster the arts.
Last year's festival was a huge success, attracting a diverse crowd and offering a variety of activities. Children of all ages had the opportunity to create their own art in the Creation Station and adjacent Sidewalk Mural. The Storybook Garden, in partnership with the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library, brought children's stories to life. Regional creators showcased their work in the Artisan Village around the Whitney Commons loop.
Attendees also had the chance to sample food and drinks from local favourites such as Kona Ice, Colombian Guy Coffeevan, Pete's Za, Fatbacks Southern BBQ, and Last Chance. The festival featured live performances by local groups Crown Summer, Sheridan County Youth Choir, La Sirene, Oliver Jr., Barbara Smith, Dinosaur Rock Musical, and a headlining performance by Brooklyn band Damn Tall Buildings. Workshops in ceramics, poetry, music, and paint-and-sip classes were also offered.
The Collective Arts Festival is made possible through the support of several organisations. It received support from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund, a program of the Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources, and the Homer A. & Mildred S. Scott Foundation. The festival is also backed by leading arts organizations in Sheridan County, including The Brinton Museum, Neltje Center, SAGE Community Arts, Sheridan Public Arts Committee, Ucross Foundation, the WYO Performing Arts and Education Center, and WYO PLAY.
Caitlin Addlesperger, President and executive director of the Ucross Foundation, spoke about the festival, expressing her excitement for its return in 2025. Water bottles for the festival were kindly donated by Water Products & Solutions.
