Celebration of Arts and Masters' Pageant Continues until August 29th
This summer, the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts is open and offering a delightful blend of art, entertainment, and education for visitors of all ages. The event, which can be visited online at
One of the unique attractions at the Festival is the Pageant of the Masters, a theatrical production that showcases living tableaux renditions of artworks, intermingled with live performances and historical photographs. This year's Pageant, titled 'Gold Coast', explores museum collections in California, featuring artworks from the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento to the San Diego Museum of Art.
Marlo Bartels, a former Cerritos College student, is a featured Festival artist known for his landmark tile works of art throughout Laguna Beach. Some of his most iconic creations include the tile chess chairs and table on Main Beach, a lively tile-trimmed fountain at the Festival of Arts, wall tile installations in the Laguna Art Museum, and a distinctive tile bench in Laguna Beach. Bartels' work often draws on the heritage of tile art, reflecting both traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design.
Judith Haron's 'Illuminated Letters' paintings are rendered in a style reminiscent of Medieval manuscripts, framed in golden halos and decorated with ornate floral medallions. On the other hand, Troy Poeschl's wood vertebrae installations explore skeletal structures, both in human and animal forms. Jeffries' three-dimensional glass sculptures are mounted dramatically for wall installation, while Morgan Amirani's jewelry honors nature with leaf and twig forms crafted in silver and inset with precious stones and gems.
Sean Poechl's brightly colored sculpted stained glass pieces are set in a collage, and Linda Potichke showcases dramatic gold and gem creations in her original jewelry designs. The photographic art form at the Art Festival includes Roger Bennet's work exploring mysteries in the real world and secret messages in landscapes and nature.
Throughout the summer, the Festival of Arts offers entertainment scheduled throughout the summer, including Jazz, Country, and Rock performances. Art classes for all ages offer another opportunity to visit the Festival and enjoy the day.
For those who buy a ticket to the Pageant of the Masters, entry to the Festival throughout the summer is included without additional cost. The Festival of Arts and Pageant of the Masters are not to be missed for anyone with an appreciation for art and entertainment.
