Boat Excursion on Lake Garda Organized by National Holidays
In an exciting exploration of Italy's picturesque Lake Garda, a brother and sister embarked on an unforgettable journey with National Holidays. The trip, detailed in the author's blog post, was the Lake Garda & Venice Inclusive Spectacular tour - a thrilling adventure that included a Lake Garda boat trip, two full-day excursions to Verona and Venice, and ample free time to explore the lake's enchanting towns.
The last day of the trip was the author's favourite, as National Holidays arranged a captivating boat trip on a bright yellow Speedy Gonzales boat. The journey began in the charming town of Limone, renowned for its lemons and pastel yellow colour, nestled onto a little curve of land in front of Monte Baldo, the tallest mountain on the lake. The narrow streets of Limone zigzag along the slopes of mountain foothills, creating a maze of colour and character.
From Limone, the boat trip continued to Malcesine, a Medieval town with colourful buildings, red-tiled roofs, a picturesque marina, and three castles on Lake Garda. Malcesine is nestled onto a little curve of land in front of Monte Baldo, offering a unique vantage point to see over the other mountains clustered around the lake.
One of the top things to do in Malcesine is to take the cable car to the top of Monte Baldo. The author and their little brother, Jordan, were in for a new experience as they ascended the towering mountain. The cable car ride was quite crowded, with about 70 people squeezed into the small cable car, but the breathtaking views at the top made the journey worthwhile. The views from the top of Monte Baldo are incredible, offering panoramic views of Lake Garda and the surrounding mountains.
During their time in Malcesine, the author browsed touristy shops selling Murano glass and had gelato by the port. The town is known for its picturesque vineyards and olive groves, offering a charming atmosphere and beautiful views. Malcesine's most historic landmark is Scaliger Castle, which dates back to the last centuries of the first Millennium B.C., with the current castle structure dating from the 11th century A.D.
Lake Garda is surrounded by towering mountains, winding roads, and colourful towns. The lake's water was sparkling and clear blue, making it a perfect destination for boat trips. Other popular destinations around Lake Garda that are often recommended for boat trips include Riva del Garda, Sirmione, Peschiera del Garda, and Desenzano del Garda. Each of these towns provides a mix of natural beauty, historical significance, and vibrant culture that make Lake Garda a sought-after destination for boat trips.
The itinerary also included day trips to Venice and Verona, offering the author and their little brother a taste of Italy's rich history and culture. The Lake Garda & Venice Inclusive Spectacular tour with National Holidays was an unforgettable adventure that the author and Jordan will cherish for years to come.
