Annual Event Showcases Creature-Shaped Balloons, Live Cantopop Performances in Hong Kong

The AIA International Hot Air Balloon Fest Hong Kong is all set to make its debut on the city's event calendar, taking place from September 4 to 7, 2025, at the Central Harbourfront Event Space. This four-day extravaganza promises a unique blend of family fun, cultural experiences, and breathtaking aerial displays against the iconic backdrop of Victoria Harbour.

Organiser, Chan, is confident that the festival will be a resounding success, attracting an estimated 80,000 visitors, including international tourists and local residents. The event aims to boost tourism and local spending, making it a significant contribution to the city's economy.

The festival will feature six large hot-air balloons, the largest measuring up to 20 metres (66 feet) tall. These colossal balloons will be joined by over 10 smaller balloons from countries such as Canada, Germany, and Japan, ensuring a diverse and fresh display. Among the special-shaped balloons, visitors can expect to see animals like pandas, dinosaurs, and rabbits, floating gracefully against the Hong Kong skyline.

In addition to the hot air balloon sessions in the morning and evening, the festival will offer a variety of entertainment options. Nightly live concerts will feature popular Cantopop stars such as Joey Yung Cho-yee and Leo Ku Kui-kei. For families, there will be carnival games, a vibrant food and beverage selection from local vendors, and various live entertainment including indie bands and cultural performances.

Chan, the organiser, took inspiration from hot-air balloon festivals around the region and hopes that the festival will encourage more Hongkongers to spend in the city and enjoy a brand new experience. The organiser also targets local families as an audience for the festival, aiming to create a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone.

With its promise of spectacle, entertainment, and cultural experiences, the AIA International Hot Air Balloon Fest Hong Kong is shaping up to be an annual highlight in the city's event calendar. The organiser believes that the festival will also encourage tourists from the mainland and overseas to consider Hong Kong as a travel destination in Asia. So, mark your calendars and get ready for an unforgettable adventure!

Coordinators expect the festival to appeal to a wide audience, with travels from various regions. This event promises to entwine individuals' lifestyles with diverse cultural experiences and travel opportunities, creating a unique blend during the four-day event.
