Bolt South Africa Introduces Flight Tracking for Scheduled Rides

Bolt South Africa has rolled out a new feature designed to streamline airport transportation for its users. The Flight Tracking for Scheduled Rides allows users to schedule rides in line with their flight times, offering real-time driver tracking and smart trip management within the Bolt app.

This innovative feature ensures timely pickups and smooth airport transfers by monitoring flight departures and arrivals, and adjusting rides accordingly for delays or changes.

For individual users, the benefits include convenience and peace of mind through advance scheduling that can be set from 30 minutes up to 90 days ahead. Real-time flight tracking helps Bolt adjust pickup times automatically if flights are delayed. Safety features such as emergency assistance, live location sharing, and trip verification codes offer added protection throughout the journey.

Corporate users can also reap the benefits, with efficient transport management for business travelers, simplified billing and ride management, and enhanced accountability and safety.

If a flight is delayed or cancelled, the ride will automatically adjust or be cancelled at no extra cost. To use the feature, users simply need to input airline, flight number, landing date, or departure city, and then select their arrival airport, destination, and tap "Add flight details".

The feature has seen a significant increase in usage, with Bolt's scheduled rides feature usage increasing by 275%. It is currently available at major airports like OR Tambo (JNB), Cape Town (CPT), King Shaka (DUR), Lanseria (HLA), and Port Elizabeth (PLZ).

Lerato Motsoeneng, Senior General Manager at Bolt, said, "Customers can now enjoy peace of mind knowing their ride will adjust if their flight is delayed or cancelled." The flight tracking feature is also beneficial for managing employee and client travel for Bolt Business.

Bolt plans to further improve airport pick-up visibility and reduce wait times by better matching riders with available drivers in the airport queue. The feature's introduction enhances Bolt's appeal to both individual and corporate users, offering a seamless ride-hailing experience tailored for both everyday and corporate travel needs, prioritizing timeliness, security, and user convenience.
